The relative poverty rate rose to around 13.3 percent, an increase of 1.1 percentage points, while the statutory poverty rate dropped by 1.5 percentage points to 2.6 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

It added that poverty risk thresholds remained unchanged.

The extreme poverty threshold is defined as the subsistence minimum, or the lowest level at which basic needs can be met, state news agency PAP reported.

Consumption below this level makes survival difficult and poses a risk to physical and mental health, it said.
